The King George Medical University (KGMC) of Lucknow was established in 1911, has been a frontrunner among medical education institutions in the country. The first hospital associated with King George’s Medical University was built in 1914, and was called King George Hospital. The first postgraduate examination in Medicine and Pathology was held in 1918. The King George’s Medical University and associated King George’s Hospital were formally transferred under the Lucknow University in 1921. With all these changes, and many more on the anvil, the new university is all set to forge into the new millennium with renewed commitment, vigor and enthusiasm. Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 8th May 2000. The University has 238 colleges/institutions imparting graduate, postgraduate and doctoral level training in all government and private institutions located all over U.P. in engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology as well as M.B.A. and M.C.A. programmes. More than 50,000 students are admitted every year in this university. UPTU is currently located in I.E.T. Campus at Sitapur Road in the Capital of U.P. at Lucknow.
