The\u00a0Delhi University<\/strong>\u00a0is among most prestigious Universities of India. The DU is known for its high standard of education in India. \u00a0Recently, GST is introduced in India. \u00a0And, with the pace of work DU is planning to include\u00a0GST course in Delhi University. \u00a0<\/strong>The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be included in the curriculum for DU students. A\u00a0officials of DU said that, \u201da proposal for this been cleared by the Delhi university’s academic council and is awaiting a nod from the executive council\u201d.<\/p>\n

The DU is always in the news for its\u00a0Delhi University admission Cut off<\/strong>\u00a0. The courses of \u00a0B.Com (Hons), B Com and B.A. will have GST as in their curriculum. An Academic Council member Sunaina Kanojia said- students used to study taxation in three streams \u2013 B.Com (Hons), B Com and B A Programme commerce-based papers. The GST course in DU<\/strong> is applicable from current session. According to the new proposal, GST will replace the content on other indirect taxes.<\/p>\n

According to the DU proposal:-<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Students of BCom will study it in the 5th semester as a second paper with the same title.
\nStudents of B Com (Hons) in the 6th\u00a0semester will be studying GST and Customs Law as a second paper.
\nIn the BA courses,\u00a0students will be studying GST in paper 3 and paper 4. It will be compulsory only for those BA students who have Taxation as an optional subject.<\/p>\n

“All these GST papers\u00a0in DU<\/strong> will be of 100 marks and compulsory for students of commerce and Arts, who choose Taxation as optional (subject),” said Kanojia, an associate professor in the Delhi School of Economics.<\/p>\n

Professor Rajesh Jha, an Executive Council member, said the\u00a0GST course proposal<\/strong>\u00a0will most likely be cleared in the upcoming EC meeting, scheduled on 14th July. As we know, on 1st July, the GST, which subsumes a range of state and central taxes, was enforced by the Narendra Modi\u00a0Government in India.<\/p>\n
